I'm Working on an Image Editor

UPDATE:
imgTool is live for iPhone and iPad!

Happy New Year!

2020 was a weird year. You've heard it a million times. I won't get into that here but I'd like to share what I'm working on. It's an image editor and the name is "ImgTool."

coming Q1 2021

I'll be releasing ImgTool *soon* for iPhone and iPad. The native Mac (not Catalyst) release will follow shortly after.

I decided to make my own image editor for a number of reasons. Firstly it's something I need regularly for my own work so, as with GridDraw, I'll be my own customer. Secondly, although image editing is a crowded category, it's not going anywhere and the market is huge and still growing. It's worth investing in for the long term. And as an indie dev, I only need a sliver of the pie to make it worthwhile.

And now for a little personal stuff....

It was roughly one year ago that I quit my job to become an indie dev. I'm happy to say that things are moving in the right direction financially.

But most importantly, things are moving in the right direction for me personally. In other words, things are moving in the right direction for our family. I'm happy to show my boys by example that it's not necessary to subordinate your productivity and personal freedom to the financial economic treadmill.

I acknowledge the limits of what one man can achieve on his own without the help of others—a fact that governments and corporations continue to use as leverage to corral otherwise free individuals. But there has been no other time in history when the individual has been so empowered and I can only see that trend continuing as long as certain forces are kept at bay. And I'm optimistic that they will be.
