A Random Day in the Indie Life
I started the day with a semblance of work. I installed iOS 17 on my test phone because I wanted to try the new Personal Voice feature and see about integrating it with WebOutLoud. Well, it turns out, in true Apple fashion, it just doesn't show up. No idea why. This is soooooo typical of Apple. Is the device too old? That's the only explanation I can think of. I couldn't find a solution online. I perused some Reddit threads where others experiencing the issue suggested everything from turning a bunch of stuff off and back on again to sacrificing a goat to Satan. I also wasted a minute of my precious life force reading a keyword-optimized, ad-ridden website offering a solution to the "not working" problem, which just regurgitated all of the nonsense I just read on Reddit. I hate the clickbait wasteland that is Google sometimes.
Anyway, I gave up on that for now. I guess I'll give it a go on my EDC and hope it shows up there. 17 is probably stable enough by now.
So what I DIDN'T do today was test the new Personal Voice feature.
What I did do, however, is go to lunch with my wife and our little one. We went to a popular French café that has a lot of different crêpe dishes, and the head chef is kind of a big deal. It's a popular spot, especially among retired old ladies.
It's fine. The AC was out again. We ate our crêpes and went home.
At this point, there were a couple of hours to kill before I had to go get the older boys from middle school. I didn't really feel like getting my head into something after the frustrating "typically Apple" experience from before, so, despite the 100+ degree heat, I headed to the lake to, you guessed it, go fishing.
And those are the highlights. Just an average summer day for this independent app developer. I'd go into the details of what happened after that, but honestly, I have no idea if anyone is even reading this, let alone interested in the details of my fishing escapades.
